A photo collage poster with a title, built round one big centre picture
A photo collage poster with a title across the top, a closing line along the bottom, and one deliberately large photograph at its centre. Both bands of lettering sit on paper the layout kept clear for them rather than over the pictures, so the words stay legible at any print size instead of fighting whatever happens to be behind them. The centre picture is what makes it a poster: on a two-by-three-foot print it comes out around seven inches square, more than twenty-five times the area of the tiles packed round it, and it gives the eye somewhere to land before it starts reading the rest. In Canva it is a cell like any other, so the photograph that earns the middle is your choice. Use this one when the collage has a subject that wants naming: an anniversary, a retirement, a team, a tribute.

How many photos fit
Every figure comes from the layout engine rather than a rule of thumb. This arrangement fills the sheet rather than an outline, so there is no count at which it stops working: the low end of each range is where the photographs print largest, the high end is where they print smallest, and the suggested figure is where each one prints about two inches on each edge - large enough to make out a face across a room.

Questions
Is the title real text, or part of a picture?
Real text. Both lines are ordinary Canva text boxes standing in bands the layout left empty for them, so you rewrite them, change the typeface, set the colour, move them, or delete one and let the other carry the print alone. The bands are fixed. Nothing about the wording is.
Which of my photographs becomes the big one?
Whichever one you drop onto the centre block. Every tile, the big one included, arrives holding a low-resolution sample, and every one has to be replaced with your own picture in Canva before you print, so the choice is made as you fill it. Give the centre your sharpest, largest original - it prints around seven inches square. Nothing else moves when you fill it.
How much of the sheet do the two bands take?
The top band is a little under a fifth of the picture area and the bottom one about a twelfth. The asymmetry is deliberate rather than an oversight: a heading needs room above and below the line to read as a heading, and a closing date needs very little. If you want more room for a long title, the band will take a second line without anything underneath it having to move.
Can I have it without the large centre picture?
Not as built - the surrounding tiles are packed around the block, so removing it would leave a hole rather than close up. What you can do is choose a different arrangement from this range: the packed tiles layout is the same dense field with no hero in it at all, and the clean grid is the same idea with every picture equal. Pick the poster when you want a focal point, and one of those two when you do not.
How many photographs does a poster like this take?
Any count in the range the table gives for your size, and the hero scales with it: on a smaller sheet it stays about the same share of the paper rather than shrinking to a tile. What changes with the count is the surround. Nearer the low end the tiles round the centre are large enough to read individually; nearer the high end they become a mosaic the hero sits in, which is the more poster-like of the two looks.
What do I receive, and can I change it later?
A Canva template opening in a free account, with the bands, the hero block and the packing already finished. You replace every sample picture with your own, type the two lines, and export. It stays in your Canva account afterwards, which matters more for this arrangement than most: the title on an anniversary poster is the part people want to amend a year later, and amending it costs nothing.
