Milestone birthday and anniversary photo collages
Some birthdays deserve more than a card. An 18th, a 50th, a 90th, a silver or golden anniversary: these are the days a family stops and looks back at everything that's happened. A number photo collage puts all of it in one frame, cut to the shape of the age itself and filled with your own photos. Our simple rule: ten photos for every year. Fifty years, five hundred photos. And because these templates hold up to 1,075 photos, nobody's version of the story gets left out.

Celebrating a different number? The number photo collage takes any number from one to four digits: a 7th birthday, a 65th, a 30th anniversary, even a year.
Ten photos for every year
| Milestone | Photos | Print size (landscape) | Each photo |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18th, 21st, 25th | 180–250 | 40 × 30″ | about 1¼″ |
| 30th, 40th | 300–400 | 54 × 36″ | about 1¼″ |
| 50th, 60th | 500–600 | 60 × 40″ | about 1″ |
| 70th to 90th | 700–900 | 60 × 40″ | a little under 1″ |
Ten for every year makes each photo small, an inch or so across: up close every face is there to find, and from across the room the number does the talking. If you'd rather every face be easy to see from a step away, use fewer photos: around 140 on a 60 × 40″ print come out about two inches across. The number reads clearly from as few as 9 photos.
Questions
What is a milestone photo collage?
It's a collage cut to the shape of the age or the number of years, like a big 50, and filled with photos from across that whole time. Underneath the number go their name and a date or a line of words.
How far ahead should I start?
Give yourself two or three weeks. Gathering the photos takes longest, especially old prints, which you can photograph with your phone. Filling the template takes an evening, and a local print shop can often print it in a day or two.
