Christmas tree photo collage, made from your own photos
Tiny pajamas on the stairs at six in the morning. Wrapping paper up to the knees. The year the tree leaned, the year the cat climbed it, the year Grandpa fell asleep in the paper crown. A Christmas tree photo collage is cut to a tiered tree with a trunk at the bottom and a star on top, and filled with every one of those mornings. Hang it once and the whole family finds themselves in it.

How many photos fit
Every figure comes from the layout engine rather than a rule of thumb. The suggested count is where each photo prints about two inches across, big enough to make out a face from across the room. The minimum is 9 photos; below that, parts of the outline can be left without a photo. The tree is clearly taller than it is wide, so it sits best on a portrait print, such as 16 × 20″ or 24 × 36″.
| Print size | Photos | Suggested |
|---|---|---|

| 12 × 18″ | 9–100 | 15 |
| 16 × 20″ | 9–140 | 25 |
| 16 × 24″ | 9–170 | 25 |
| 20 × 20″ | 9–180 | 25 |
| 20 × 30″ | 9–275 | 45 |
| 24 × 24″ | 9–250 | 35 |
| 24 × 36″ | 9–375 | 60 |
| 30 × 40″ | 9–525 | 100 |
| 36 × 54″ | 9–875 | 140 |
| 40 × 60″ | 9–1075 | 180 |
Questions
Does the star hold photos too?
Yes. The star is part of the shape, so it fills with photos like the rest of the tree. It's a lovely spot for one small family favorite, like the newest baby or this year's card.
Can I use it after Christmas?
Of course. It's really a family-year keepsake that happens to be shaped like a tree. Plenty of people leave it up through winter, then bring it out again each December like an ornament that grows.
Can it remember someone we've lost?
Gently, yes. A first Christmas without someone is hard, and a tree full of the Christmases you had together can help. Put their photos near the star and a quiet line underneath.
What occasions is it good for?
- A family Christmas gift that everyone ends up standing around
- Grandparents, with every grandchild's Christmas in one frame
- "Our year," the trips, the birthdays and the small days, wrapped up in December
- A holiday card wall, finally off the fridge and on the wall
Which photos should I put in it?
- Christmas mornings over the years, oldest at the trunk, newest by the star
- The cousins lined up on the couch, tallest to smallest
- Matching pajamas, even the year nobody wanted to
- Every tree you ever had, the bare ones included
- Cookie flour, sledding hats and the dog in reindeer ears
What can I write under the outline?
- The Garcias · Christmas 2008–2026
- Every Christmas morning, all in one tree
- Home for the holidays, every year
- Our first Christmas without you, and every one before it
- Merry Christmas, Grandma and Grandpa, from all of us
What do I get?
A Canva template already cut to this tree, star and trunk included, with every photo space placed, for $9.99. It opens in a free Canva account; you drop in your photos, type the two lines and print it anywhere. Nothing is shipped. It stays in your account, so next December you can swap in the new photos and print it again.
